MACAU - International Series Macau presented by Wynn has been
named as a qualifying pathway event for The Open, with the top
three finishers at Macau Golf and Country Club from March 20-23
set to earn a coveted spot in the field for this year’s fourth
major.
The second edition of the tournament has been confirmed by
The
R&A as one of 15 events in 11 countries that form the Open
Qualifying Series for 2025, offering the leading three non-exempt
players a shot at winning the famous Claret Jug when this
year's edition is played at Royal Portrush in Northern
Ireland from July 17-20.
This marks the first time an event on
The International Series
has been part of the Open Qualifying Series, and continues to
demonstrate the emergence of the series as a route to the highest
stages in professional golf.
The International Series already
forms a pathway onto the LIV
Golf League for players through its rankings system across 10
events on the Asian Tour calendar.
Last year’s International
Series Macau presented by Wynn was won
by LIV Golf reserve player John Catlin with the American seeing
off Spanish youngster David Puig of Fireballs GC in a thrilling
play-off. Catlin had carded a historic third round of 59 on the
Saturday, while Puig hit back with an impressive final round of 60
to draw level on a thrilling final day.
